Looking for inkjet paper for your printer? The paper in this section was especially designed to use with any inkjet machines (multi-function printers and print only devices). What is the difference between standard office paper and inkjet paper? The most important property of inkjet paper is its ability to absorb the ink that is transferred on it during printing without bleeding. Other types of paper are also suitable for use with inkjet printers but generally for mono colour text printing – if you need to print colour rich images, graphics or pictures you should use inkjet paper as it can handle the large quantity of ink being applied to its surface. Since inkjet paper is usually heavier (from 90gsm upwards) than general use paper it is also possible to use it for double sided printing as it doesn’t bleed-through.

The structure of inkjet paper allows the ink to be spread evenly on the sheet surface and dry very quickly so there aren’t any smudges left. This is especially beneficial when printing images. It might be worth mentioning that even though most of printing paper is described as white they are not all at the same level of whiteness. Since inkjet paper is a bit more advanced type of paper the white surface in it is great for reflecting colours in high quality.

Inkjet Paper Buyers Tips

• Paper Weight – the general rule might be described as: the heavier the paper the more prestigious it looks and feels. Basic inkjet paper is usually 90-100gsm which is heavier than most of standard multipurpose types of paper and can reach up to 180-270gsm. Thanks to the increased weight inkjet paper is ideal for professional correspondence with clients, reports, presentations, leaflets and any other type of documents which you want to look highly professional and important.

• Paper Brightness – on a scale of brightness from 1-100 where the higher the number the higher the brightness level, paper inkjet paper is set from 90 upwards compared to 80 for general use paper. This scale isn’t too popular among paper descriptions and specifications. Most of manufacturers use terms as “super white”, ”ultra-white”, “extra white” and similar terms to describe the level of brightness in their paper.

• Paper Finish – this is extremely important when buying inkjet paper as there are large differences in properties for particular types of finish in inkjet paper. Matte inkjet paper has a soft for the human eye, non-reflecting surface and is ideal for printing documents which contain a lot of images such as marketing materials, photos, presentations. Glossy inkjet paper is very similar to photographic paper due to the coating on its surface which reflects light. Glossy inkjet paper is most commonly used for printing flyers, brochures and various types of promotional literature and materials. You can also get inkjet paper which isn’t marked neither as glossy nor matte but is simply called inkjet paper and this might be considered as sort of multipurpose inkjet paper as it is suitable for printing images and any other content but doesn’t have a shiny reflective surface.
