Multifunction printer paper is the most commonly used printing paper among business and home users. The large popularity of such paper is due to the fact that it is suitable to work with almost any type of printing equipment – printers, copiers and fax machines in both inkjet and laser versions. The structure of universal printer paper is designed to produce text and images form ink transferred on its surface or from a laser drum.
Multifunction printer paper is available in all common paper sizes including A5, A4 and A3 format but the vast majority of printer paper that is being sold is the A4 size. It is the most frequently used printer paper for business documents, reports, college projects and home purposes printing. Multifunction A4 paper is exactly what you need for letters, invoices and general use. A4 printer paper exact dimensions are 210 x 297mm (that is 11 ¾ x 8 ¼ inches).
When choosing printer paper there is few things that are worth looking at:
• Paper Weight – the standard weight of an office use printer paper is usually set at 80gsm (which stands for grams per square meter) and it allows using the paper for everyday printing needs. This would be the most popular paper weight you will find among universal type of printer paper. If you want your correspondence or documents to look more important and elegant you might choose paper which weighs 100gsm and more – such paper feels heavier and more prestigious and can be used for important documents and mailings.
• Pack Sizes – a worldwide standard for printer paper pack size is a ream which consists of 500 paper sheets. Often you can also come across 2500 sheets boxes – these can be found as a pack of 5 reams or individual 2500 sheets which are very handy for high volume printing. Heavier types of printer paper like 120gsm or more are often packed in reams of 250 or 100 sheets as such paper wouldn't be used for general printing and it is also usually more expensive per sheet than standard printer paper.
• Paper Brands – due to its high popularity printer paper is manufactured by multiple companies and the price range is very broad. The economy range of printing paper includes own brand paper and the 5 Star brand which provide great quality for any print job while being very competitive in terms of cost. Printer paper is also available from most of popular printing equipment manufacturers such as HP, Canon and Xerox – paper from highly recognisable brands like the ones mentioned is usually slightly more expensive than less-known paper brands but provides excellent quality and reliability. If using printer paper for professional purposes it might be worth getting paper that is produced by brands which are specialized in manufacturing printing paper such as Navigator, Logic or Data Copy.
